Station VIII

Jesus meets the women of Jerusalem.

The women of Jerusalem weep when they see how Jesus suffers. Jesus, seeing their distress, breaks his silence for the first time since he was condemned to death. “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me. Weep for yourselves, and for your children.”

We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you, because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world.
