I’m New
We’re so glad you’ve found Holy Trinity Episcopal Church online and hope you find all the answers to questions you might have about Holy Trinity and the Episcopal Church. With this in mind, we offer the following tips:
When do I need to arrive?
Our Sunday worship service begins at 11 a.m. and takes place in the church (located immediately to the left of the main entry). One of our greeters or ushers will direct you and can assist you with seating.
Sunday schedule
Holy Eucharist – 11 a.m.
Coffee Hour – every other Sunday at 10 a.m.
Where is Holy Trinity Episcopal Church?
Find us at 5333 Clyde Park Ave SW in Wyoming, Michigan.
We are conveniently located about 10 minutes south of downtown Grand Rapids. Take US 131 south to the 54th Street exit and drive a quarter-mile west to Clyde Park. Turn north and there we are.
We’re also located near Byron Center, approximately 10 minutes north of downtown Byron Center. If you’re joining us from Byron Center, you can drive up Byron Center Ave SW or Burlingame Ave SW and then east over Gezon Parkway SW to Clyde Park Ave SW. Another easy way to join us is to drive east over 84th St SW and then up Clyde Park Ave SW.
What programs do you have for children?
Children of all ages are welcome in our worship services.
What should I wear?
Wear what you feel comfortable wearing. On Sundays you’ll see us in everything from jeans to suits.
How do I follow along with the service?
As you enter our sanctuary, one of the ushers will hand you a service bulletin. It contains the scriptures we’ll hear and prayers we’ll say together. Any of us will be glad to help you follow along during the service.
In your pew, you will find a smaller red book with a cross on the front, The Book of Common Prayer. This book contains the entire worship service as well as other services and prayers.
What kind of music do you have?
The music in our service is found either in the green soft cover hymn book, Sing a New Creation, or the standard Episcopal Hymnal 1982. The service bulletin will give you the hymn numbers, and you can also find hymn numbers listed on the “hymn board” at the front of the church.
When do I sit, stand, or kneel?
We generally stand to sing and pray, and sit to listen to scriptures and the sermons. But please do what you (and your knees!) are comfortable with!
May I receive Holy Communion?
Our belief is that the altar is God’s table, not ours. And God welcomes all people seeking Christ or a deeper knowledge of him to come forward for Holy Communion and take the bread and wine.
If you are uncomfortable taking the bread and wine, come forward to the altar rail and request a blessing by simply crossing your arms over your chest. The priest will bless you.
What happens if there’s severe weather?
Closing the church for services is extremely rare. However, information can be found on our website, Facebook, our phone outgoing message and :
- WOOD TV 8,
- WOTV 41, and
- we send emails to the congregation.
